  • Safe Streets, Thriving Families – Advocate for increased public safety resources, community policing partnerships, and neighborhood watch programs that keep DeSoto families secure and connected.

  • Invest in Our Infrastructure – Champion improvements to roads, parks, lighting, and green spaces so every neighborhood in DeSoto reflects the pride and potential of its residents.

  • A Voice for Every Resident – Ensure all DeSoto neighborhoods — regardless of zip code — have a seat at the table, with transparent local government and leaders who show up, listen, and deliver results.

Dr. Garner will create opportunities for youth in DeSoto by:

  • Collaborating with the School District – Partner with DeSoto ISD to align community resources, programs, and initiatives that support student success both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Connecting Youth to Career Pathways – Partner with local businesses, colleges, and trade organizations to offer internships, apprenticeships, and job training that prepare DeSoto youth for tomorrow's workforce.

  • Investing in Youth Leadership – Maintain and strengthen the success of the DeSoto Youth Advisory Council and Teen Library Expo, empowering young people to lead, innovate, and shape the future of their community.

Dr. Garner will demonstrate responsible city leadership in DeSoto by:

  • Transparent and Accountable Governance – Ensure open communication with residents, maintain fiscal responsibility, and make data-driven decisions that reflect the best interests of the entire DeSoto community.

  • Attracting Mid-Scale Dining with Healthier Options – Recruit and welcome mid-scale restaurants and dining establishments that offer healthier menu choices, providing DeSoto residents with quality dining experiences close to home.

  • Supporting Local Entrepreneurs – Champion a thriving small business ecosystem by connecting DeSoto entrepreneurs with funding opportunities, technical assistance, and mentorship programs. Advocate for policies that reduce barriers to entry and support minority and women-owned businesses, ensuring local entrepreneurs have the tools they need to start and grow right here in DeSoto.
